Looking at Your Breast Implant Options with Dr. Jane Rowley

Maybe you want to restore lost breast volume from nursing your baby, or perhaps you’ve always had a lack of breast tissue and are ready to get the breasts you’ve always wanted. It could be that you’ve always had asymmetrical breasts, and you just want them to finally look even. Women have all different reasons for wanting a breast augmentation, and the different types of breast implants on the market today can help you achieve your personal goals. In Lubbock, TX, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jane Rowley presents all your breast implant options and works with you to obtain beautiful, natural-looking results. Here’s a brief explanation about each type of implant and what you need to know before you settle on one.

Types of Breast Implants

Silicone gel breast implants: For years, women have liked silicone gel implants for their natural feel and look. These implants are filled with a cohesive silicone gel and are FDA-approved for women over the age of 22. The implant is filled when it’s manufactured, so longer incisions are needed to place these implants. If a silicone gel implant ruptures, it is undetectable by looking in the mirror, so an MRI scan of the breasts is recommended every 2-3 years by the FDA to be sure there is no silicone gel leaking into your body. These implants can have smooth or textured shells.

Silicone gel “Gummy bear,” implants: Just like the name suggests, these feel like a “gummy bear” because the silicone gel inside is thicker and more cohesive. These implants are available in round or teardrop shapes. Among your breast implant options, if you choose a teardrop-shape you’ll get less fullness in the upper part of your breast, but the bottom half of your breast will drop more naturally. However, if a shaped implant rotates in the body, it can look distorted and require another surgery to correct. Patients over the age of 22 are FDA-approved for these implants.

Saline breast implants: For women who are worried about silicone gel leaking into their body, saline implants are an alternative choice. If you experience a leak in your saline implants, you will be able to see it with a quick glance in the mirror, and the saline will be safely absorbed by your body. Since saline implants are not filled until surgery, they can often be placed with a smaller incision. This also allows your plastic surgeon to add or take out saline solution during surgery for more symmetrical breasts. Some women complain that saline implants feel too similar to a water balloon, and they tend to wrinkle more than other types of breast implants. These are only available in round shapes, and the FDA has approved them for patients over 18.

Structured breast implants, or the IDEAL IMPLANT®: These implants were designed by a plastic surgeon to combine the look and feel of silicone gel with the safety of saline. The IDEAL IMPLANT contains a layered structure so the saline inside will stay in place and not slosh around. A recent study showed that the IDEAL IMPLANT has significantly lower rupture and capsule contracture rates than silicone gel implants. These implants can be placed with a small incision, come only in a round shape, and are FDA approved for patients over 18 years old.

Dr. Rowley says she feels confident in the IDEAL IMPLANT, and likes that it gives her patients peace of mind. “They know when their implant is leaking, they can plan their lives around that, and they know that it’ll be a relatively simple procedure to remove and replace it.”

Breast Implant Options: Textures and Profiles

Though some implants are filled with saline and others with silicone gel, every breast implant on the market today is made with an outer “crosslinked,” solid silicone shell. Sometimes implants have a textured surface to prevent movement inside the chest capsule and avoid rippling of the skin. Out of all the types of breast implants, the IDEAL IMPLANT is made only with a smooth surface.

You can also customize the look you want by choosing varying breast implant profiles. The same amount of volume in a low profile implant will look different than in a moderate or a high profile implant. High profile implants are used to achieve more fullness and projection, while low and moderate profile implants often look more natural. A low profile breast implant is ideal for women with wider chests, while a high profile implant can work better on women with a narrow chest wall.

Comparing Breast Augmentation With a Breast Lift in Lubbock

The dissatisfaction we feel with certain parts of our bodies can have a significant impact on our confidence and sometimes even our quality of life. When women are unhappy with the appearance of their breasts, it can be frustrating because they feel powerless to change the situation. No amount of diet or exercise can reverse the effects that age, nursing babies, or gravity have on the breasts. Plastic surgery offers ways to change the frustration into renewed confidence with procedures that are customized to fit the needs of every individual.

If you have decided you want to take matters into your own hands and change the way you feel about your breasts, the next step is to decide which procedure is right for you. A breast lift can take years off your appearance, breast augmentation can give new life to deflated breasts, and a combination of both can have dramatic results. Whether you want a breast lift, augmentation, or a combination of breast procedures, the choice you make depends on a variety of personal needs and cosmetic goals.

Consider a Breast Lift in Lubbock

A breast lift rejuvenates the look of your breasts by getting rid of extra skin and moving your existing breast tissue to a more perky position. During the procedure, your surgeon will reposition your nipples to a more upward placement with forward projection. Excess skin is removed and remaining breast tissue is tightened to reshape the contour of the breasts. A breast lift gives your bust a more youthful look and shape and can make clothing look much more flattering.

It is important to have realistic expectations for a breast lift. Lubbock patients undergoing this procedure will achieve different results than those having breast augmentation. The tightening of the skin and repositioning of breast tissue will give your breasts a more youthful appearance, but the surgery does not add the volume you would get with implants. Your skin elasticity also plays an important role in the outcome of your breast lift surgery; your doctor will be able to evaluate all of the factors that contribute to the success of your procedure.

Candidates for a Breast Lift in Lubbock

If your breasts have become elongated and flattened over time, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift. You may also notice that your nipples point downward. Some questions you should think about as you consider a breast lift include:

  • Are your areolas enlarged?
  • Do your breasts sag or droop significantly?
  • Do your nipples point downward?
  • Are you at a stable weight?
  • Do you smoke?
  • Are you in generally good health?
  • Do you have realistic expectations about the results of the surgery?

Adding Volume With Breast Augmentation

Breast implants are intended to increase the size of your breasts. They will add fullness and symmetry, and can help balance the proportions of your body. You can choose from a variety of breast implant sizes, shapes, and materials to get the particular look that fits your goals and body type. Breast augmentation adds volume to sagging breasts but also adds more weight, which can make matters worse for stretched skin that already may not be supporting breast tissue well. Patients who want very large implants along with a breast lift in Lubbock may not see the results they want as the heavy implants weigh down the breasts and cause additional sagging.

If you have only mild sagging, implants will provide somewhat of a lift for your breasts. But, if your breasts sag with more severity, you can discuss the option of combining breast augmentation with a breast lift in Lubbock with your doctor.

Combining Breast Procedures

If you want to correct sagging and increase your cup size, you will need to consider having a breast lift together with breast augmentation. This combination is referred to as augmentation mastopexy. Combining the two plastic surgeries will add volume to your breasts and provide them with the lift they may need. The procedure reshapes the breast tissue, lifts the nipple and areola, and gives your breasts a fuller shape. Discussing your goals with your doctor will help you decide whether a breast lift in Lubbock, breast augmentation, or a combination of both procedures is right for you.

How to Get Natural Feeling Breast Implants in Lubbock

When considering breast implants, Lubbock women often have questions about how their new breasts will compare to natural ones. Women not only want a particular look for their implants, but they are also hopeful for results that feel like the real thing. After surgery, these women eventually stop thinking about their new breasts as implants and start considering them to be part of their breasts. Natural-feeling results from breast augmentation come from making the right choices with your surgeon before your procedure. It is important to discuss all of the following variables with your board-certified plastic surgeon to make sure you have the best chance at getting the outcome you want.

Silicone, Saline, or Structured Implants

The type of implant you choose can have a significant role in how quickly your breasts feel normal again. Softer silicone gel implants feel natural sooner following surgery than saline implants. But, you have different implants to try before you make that final decision. Your surgeon should give you the chance to feel both types of implants before making your decision.

The new IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implants are the latest in implant technology that offer the natural look and feel of silicone gel and the peace of mind of saline. Dr. Rowley is part of an exclusive network of plastic surgeons that provides this option to patients. With a structure of chambers and shells inside the implant, its saline filler can move in such a way that it gives the implant a beautiful, natural feel without any of the disadvantages of silicone gel breast implants. Lubbock patients can find out more about the IDEAL IMPLANT at Rowley Plastic Surgery.

Existing Breast Tissue

The more natural breast tissue you have to support the implant, the more quickly the implant will blend with your body and convey a natural look and feel. During your breast augmentation consultation, your plastic surgeon will assess the amount of available breast tissue to give you an idea of how the implants will look on your body.

Breast Implant Size

The larger the implant, the longer it may take to feel like part of your natural breast. Some breast implants in Lubbock may be so large that they will never quite obtain that feel. If your goal is to simply augment what you already have and gain or regain some shape, then you should be careful with the size. A natural look is most often achieved when body proportions are kept in balance.

Breast Implant Placement: Under or Over the Muscle

If you do not have enough breast tissue to cover the implant, it must be placed under the chest muscle. This type of placement requires time for the muscle to stretch and thin out. In general, implant placement beneath the muscle tends to look more like natural breasts and less like breast implants. Lubbock women are all different, so this will not be the right placement for every body type. Women with limited natural breast tissue find that placement under the muscle is necessary. A natural look and feel can also be obtained for implants placed above the muscle.

Breast Implants Above the Muscle

Implants placed below the breast tissue but above the chest muscle are called subglandular or subfascial. Some things to consider about this type of placement include:

  • Typically less invasive than below the muscle breast implants in Lubbock
  • Quicker recovery because the muscle stays intact
  • No distortion from flexing muscles
  • No size limitation due to limited space under the muscle
  • Breast implants can be placed closer together providing more cleavage
  • More likely to have visible rippling of the implant
  • Less support for the implant putting it at risk of dropping over time
  • More likely to cause stretch marks and blemishes
  • More difficult to mammogram

Breast Implants Under the Muscle

Placement under the muscle is often referred to as subpectoral. Here are some things you should know about this placement:

  • Less risk of folds or ripples in the implant becoming visible
  • More tissue covering and protecting the breast implants
  • Less risk of firmness or capsular contracture
  • Longer recovery period
  • Interference with some physical activities like push-ups or weight lifting
  • Potential for visible flexing of the muscle over the breast implants
  • Higher-positioned implants can look unnatural

What Can You Do?

Apart from the psychological and physical aspects to owning their breast implants, Lubbock women can take control and do some things on their own to contribute to a natural feel.

  • Massage: deep massage to the breast implants, especially early after the surgery are important. While this is not the most comfortable thing following surgery, it is important to work the surrounding tissue, helping it feel supple and natural. And if your implant is under your chest muscle, this can help that muscle stretch and relax as well.
  • The Right Surgeon: select a surgeon who truly knows how to give you more natural results. Choosing a doctor certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery will significantly increase your likelihood of achieving your desired results.
  • Patience: a natural feel can take from two to nine months post-surgery to obtain. Be patient with your body. Take care of your new body, and give it the time it needs to become yours in both look and feel.

Breast Augmentation: A Popular Plastic Surgery Option

There are numerous plastic surgery options available nowadays, but breast augmentation continues to be the most popular choice. Recent data released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) concluded that breast augmentation was the leading cosmetic surgical procedure in 2017, with 300,378 total procedures performed.

Why are so many women deciding to receive breast implants? The ASPS reports 98% percent of women say their breast augmentation results met or exceeded their expectations, with many seeing improved self-esteem and a better quality of life. So while breast augmentation has high patient satisfaction ratings, it is important for women to understand it is still a surgical procedure that comes with limitations.

Is Breast Augmentation Right For You?

Do you want breast implants, but no sure if you are a good candidate for breast augmentation? Wondering what to expect following breast augmentation recovery? The ASPS website says:

“Breast augmentation is a deeply personal procedure, and it’s important that you’re doing it for yourself and not for someone else, even if that person has offered to pay for it. Patient satisfaction is high, specifically when they want the procedure themselves. You may be a candidate for breast augmentation if:

  • You are physically healthy and you aren’t pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have realistic expectations
  • Your breasts are fully developed
  • You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts are too small
  • You are dissatisfied with your breasts losing shape and volume after pregnancy, weight loss or with aging
  • You are unhappy with the upper part of your breast appearing “empty”
  • Your breasts are asymmetrical
  • One or both breasts failed to develop normally or have an elongated shape

If you’re considering surgery, spend some time reviewing breast augmentation photos and learning about what to expect during recovery. Preparation ahead of time helps patients have reasonable expectations and a smoother recovery.”

Discussing your Plastic Surgery Options with Dr. Rowley

As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Jane Rowley has extensive experience performing breast augmentation surgery. She understands that because every body is unique, each patient needs individualized care and a customized treatment plan designed just for them. She reminds her patients that no two women can achieve the same results, and that bodies respond differently, even to the same procedure. During the consultation process, Dr. Rowley also explains to her patients the various plastic surgery options that will best fit their body type and lifestyle. Dr. Rowley states:

“Most people who seek breast augmentation come in with an idea of what cup size they would like to be postoperatively. However, cup size is extremely variable and often depends on the manufacturer of the undergarment. I think it is very important to spend a long time talking to my patients about what size they think they want to be. We look at multiple photographs, go through sample implants together, and I have patients try them on. I find it is not uncommon for someone to come in and say they want to be a C-cup, but when we go over it together, they find they like a little larger appearance, or may smaller, once they’ve tried them on. I do not want to trivialize this operation, but from a technical surgical standpoint, it is a relatively simple operation to do. The most difficult, and important, aspect of this procedure is making sure the patient has clear expectations. A skilled surgeon can make your breasts larger, but we cannot make your breasts look like someone else’s breasts. This is why I feel spending a long time discussing size together before the procedure is so important.”

A Smooth Breast Augmentation Recovery

Dr. Rowley strives to provide a worry-free breast augmentation recovery experience for her patients. Her care doesn’t stop after surgery. She remains in contact with her patients to ensure they are healing properly and happy with their results. A Google review by Merina Lisman says:

Personalizing Your Breast Augmentation in Lubbock

Breast implants come in many sizes and shapes so you can choose the right look and style to fit your individual body type, personality, and aesthetic goals. The size of your implants is perhaps the most obvious decision you will have to make, yet there are several other aspects about your implants that can be personalized. The variety of choices is a good thing for patients having breast augmentation in Lubbock, but it can begin to feel overwhelming. Understanding your options is the first step to making sure you get the results you want from plastic surgery. It is also important to talk to your surgeon and discuss your expectations so you are completely understood before your breast augmentation.

Breast Augmentation Trends

Hollywood used to give us the impression that breast augmentation was only for women who wanted very large, round breasts. Today, most women get breast implants to enhance their natural femininity and want to avoid an artificial or fake appearance. Because of this, smaller, more natural-looking implants are increasing in popularity. Many of our patients lead busy, active lifestyles and they need their breast implants to complement the way they live. Before having breast augmentation in Lubbock, your surgeon will want you to consider your body shape and think about the breast implant size and shape that suits you. With the help of your surgeon, you can choose a breast implant size and shape that will be the perfect fit.

Breast Implant Shape

Round breast implants are the most popular implants women choose for breast augmentation in Lubbock. They can be filled with saline or silicone gel. These implants also have different projection styles. Round implants give more cleavage and lift for women. This lift is in both the lower and upper region of the breast where the breast generally doesn’t have fullness without implants. Some people feel implants with upper lift can appear less natural, but depending on your figure and preferences, they could be the right choice for you.

Breast implants also come in teardrop shape. These implants have a slope to them so they are more filled out on the bottom of the breast, which resembles the shape of a natural breast. These breast implants have a textured surface that will help keep them in place while healing so they do not rotate and look distorted. Talk to your doctor about teardrop-shaped breast implants to see if they can give you a more natural look with subtle enhancement.

Surgical Options for Breast Augmentation in Lubbock

You will have two different options for the placement of your implant in conjunction with your own tissue and muscle. Submuscular placement puts the implant underneath the chest muscle. Breast implants that are beneath the pectoral muscle can look more natural, as the overlying muscle helps create the slope that real breasts have. Mammograms are also easier to read with breast implants under the muscle. Recovery from this type of breast augmentation in Lubbock may require a little more time than if your implants were placed over the muscle, but the more natural look and feel might just be worth it for you.

The placement of breast Implants over the chest muscle is called subglandular placement. With this type of procedure, your implants may appear more visible. Studies have found higher rates of capsular contracture in patients with subglandular placement as well. Your breast enhancement goals, body type, and the type of implant all contribute to this decision, so talk to your doctor about which type of placement is best for you.

Consider Your Motivation

Maybe you have lost some weight and your breast size is now smaller. Or, maybe your body shape allows clothes to fit well around your hips but fits too loosely around your chest. Perhaps you feel your breast size is too small in proportion to the rest of your body. Maybe you feel your breasts are noticeably smaller than those of other women. Some women have noticeable asymmetry in their breasts. Breast implants can solve all of these issues. If you can clearly explain your concerns to your doctor, you will have a better chance of correcting the problems and getting the results you want.

Experienced Breast Augmentation in Lubbock

Breast augmentation is the most popular plastic surgery procedure for good reason. It can enhance the beauty of your feminine look and give you more confidence in your everyday life. If you have realistic expectations for your results and are in relatively good health, breast implants may provide that cosmetic boost you are looking for. Try not to let the variety of breast augmentation options overwhelm you; let us help you understand your choices and guide you to finding your perfect look. Schedule your no-obligation consultation today to discover the possibilities of breast augmentation in Lubbock.

The Best Breast Implants with a High Safety Profile

For years, women have only had two breast implant options—saline or silicone gel. Unfortunately, both choices come with downsides, forcing women to choose between the beauty they desire, and the security they deserve. But now, the latest in implant technology has brought about a new type of implant—the IDEAL IMPLANT®.

What is the IDEAL IMPLANT?

The IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implant combines the benefits of both silicone gel and saline. It is comprised of a series of shells nested together that hold two separate chambers filled with saline. This unique design allows women to achieve the natural feel and realistic look that is commonly associated with silicone gel, yet offers the peace of mind that comes with saline.

The IDEAL IMPLANT is only available to plastic surgeons who are board-certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. As a board-certified plastic surgeon and an IDEAL IMPLANT Premier Surgeon, Dr. Jane Rowley is part of this exclusive group. She wants her patients to have access to all the best breast implants in the industry, and is committed to staying up-to-date on the newest products, procedures, and techniques in plastic surgery.

Breast Implant Safety Facts

Dr. Rowley makes sure her patients have all the information they need to make an informed decision before undergoing breast augmentation. She helps her patients understand the surgical process, and explains to them the breast implant safety aspects of each kind of implant. On fda.gov, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration states “some of the complications and adverse outcomes of breast implants include:

  • Additional surgeries, with or without removal of the device
  • Capsular contracture, scar tissue that forms around the implant and squeezes the implant
  • Breast pain
  • Changes in nipple and breast sensation
  • Rupture with deflation of saline-filled implants
  • Rupture with or without symptoms (silent rupture) of silicone gel-filled implants”

A Lower Risk with the IDEAL IMPLANT

A recent study compared the risk of rupture and capsular contracture of silicone gel implants to the IDEAL IMPLANT. The FDA trial data proved that women with the IDEAL IMPLANT have a lower risk of encountering these postoperative complications.

The statistics show the risk of rupture or deflation with the IDEAL IMPLANT at eight years after primary breast augmentation was only 2.1%. This was compared to Allergan Gel that came in at 7.4%, Mentor Gel at 13.6%, and Sientra Gel at 7.2%.

Regarding capsular contracture, those same three brands of silicone gel implants were found to have much higher risk rates than the IDEAL IMPLANT. The IDEAL IMPLANT rates of Baker Class III/IV capsular contracture at eight years after primary breast augmentation were at 6.6%, with Allergan Gel at 16.2% (seven years after), Mentor Gel at 10.9% (eight years after), and Sientra Gel at 11.2% (eight years after).

Learning the facts about breast implant safety can help you determine the best breast implants for your body. For more information about this study, watch the video below.

The Aftermath of a Rupture

When a saline implant or the IDEAL IMPLANT ruptures, a woman’s body is able to absorb the sterile saltwater solution. She can instantly know her implant is no longer intact because it will be begin to deflate. When a silicone gel implant ruptures, it is referred to as a “silent rupture” since sticky silicone gel can leak into a woman’s body for years without her knowledge, requiring an MRI to detect rupture. That is why the FDA recommends all women with silicone gel implants receive an MRI the third year following primary augmentation, then every two years thereafter for the life of their implants. Dr. Rowley explains what women can expect when removing a ruptured implant:

“The nice thing about the IDEAL IMPLANT is you know that you have an implant in that’s going to be easy to remove, you’re going to know when it’s leaking, and it’s not going to interfere with your life in 10 or 20 or 30 years. There’s a big difference when removing a ruptured saline implant compared to removing a ruptured silicone gel implant … A ruptured saline implant can be removed easily with a local anesthetic. Silicone gel implants, if they’re not ruptured, it can come out that easily. But if they are ruptured, most of time it’s stuck, and it bleeds, and you have to put drains in. So it’s not an easy recovery, it’s not an easy surgery. With the saline implant, I can almost guarantee them ahead of time: ‘Your saline’s leaking, it will be easy to remove and replace. You’ll be back to work in a day or two at the most.’ Silicone implant I’ll say: ‘I don’t know what you’re recovery is going to be. It might come out easily, it might not come out easily. You might have to take a week off work. You might have to take two days off work.’”

The Protection You Deserve With Breast Implants

What should you consider before getting breast implants? Do you know the different types available? What long-term maintenance or monitoring is required? When partnering with Dr. Jane Rowley, she takes the time to answer these questions and address any other concerns her patients have about their breast implant options.

Dr. Rowley’s Commitment to Patient Education

Dr. Rowley is devoted to helping her patients find confidence in their breast augmentation decision. She understands that undergoing breast surgery is a highly personal choice. Every woman has different expectations and varying goals for their appearance. That’s why Dr. Rowley is committed to making sure her patients receive all the information they need to achieve the results they desire.

Every patient at Rowley Plastic Surgery receives specialized care. Since no two women are the same, Dr. Rowley creates customized treatment plans to meet the individual needs of her patients. During the consultation process, she goes over the three kinds of breast implants on the market today – saline, silicone gel, and the new IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implant.

What are Structured Breast Implants?

As a plastic surgeon board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Rowley is part of an exclusive network eligible to offer the IDEAL IMPLANT. This technology-driven implant combines the benefits, without the drawbacks, of both silicone gel and saline. For many years, women have been caught choosing between the natural feel and realistic look associated with silicone gel, and the peace of mind that comes with saline.

But now, women wanting a breast augmentation no longer have to compromise beauty for security. The unique design of the IDEAL IMPLANT delivers the best of both worlds. It is comprised of a series of implant shells nested together that hold two separate chambers filled with saline. This advanced internal structure controls the movement of the saline to mitigate sloshing, supports the implant edge to prevent wrinkling and collapse when upright, and provides projection and volume. Plus, with no use of sticky silicone gel, the IDEAL IMPLANT is 100% risk-free of “silent rupture.”

Basic Protection Plan for No Extra Cost

When women choose the IDEAL IMPLANT, they are automatically enrolled in the Basic Protection Plan provided by IDEAL IMPLANT Incorporated. This limited warranty provides women with financial assistance of up to $3,500 to help with uninsured out-of-pocket surgery costs for deflation for 10 years. So if their IDEAL IMPLANT deflates, women can receive a free replacement implant during their lifetime for deflation, and for the first 10 years for capsular contracture.

Additional Protection

For a more extensive protection, the Premium Protection Plan is also available. Since many health insurance plans do not extend coverage for cosmetic surgery or postoperative problems related to cosmetic surgery, the Premium Protection Plan offers additional benefits to help women be protected from complications related to their breast implants throughout their entire life.

What is Included in the Premium Protection Plan?

The Premium Protection Plan includes all the elements of the Basic Protection Plan, then added protection as well.

The First 60 days – The risk of postoperative problems that are expensive to treat is higher just after surgery, and as time goes on becomes less likely. The Premium Protection Plan extends up to $10,000 in financial assistance during the first 60 days after breast augmentation surgery for bleeding, infection, anesthesia, blood clots, and wound healing events.

The First Year – The Premium Protection Plan includes $5,000 in financial assistance for postoperative events women might face during the first year following their procedure such as capsular contracture, deflation, insertional scar revision, and related events.

Subsequent Years – Women can have the peace of mind knowing their IDEAL IMPLANTS are covered for their entire life. The Premium Protection Plan doesn’t end after the first year.  $5,000 in financial assistance continues on for capsular contracture, deflation, insertional scar revision, and related events.

For further explanation of the Premium Protection Plan, watch the video below.

How To Get the Premium Protection Plan

To get this added protection, women can simply enroll with their plastic surgeon prior to their procedure. The cost is $189 for primary breast augmentation, or $249 if exchanging existing implants. Each year thereafter, renewal is only $79. Since unexpected or uninsured costs can come about at any time, this affordable lifetime protection is an investment for a worry-free future. And if the Premium Protection Plan is not renewed, the Basic Protection Plan automatically still applies for the remainder of its original term.

A Breast Augmentation with Dr. Rowley

The IDEAL IMPLANT was designed to give women the look they desire, with the confidence they deserve. Women can enjoy lifelong security knowing their breast implants are protected with the Premium Protection Plan. If you have questions regarding the financial assistance available to you with the IDEAL IMPLANT, Dr. Rowley can help you understand your options. Boost Your Confidence With a Breast Lift in Lubbock

With the holiday season upon us, it is gratifying to spend our time buying gifts and serving others. But it is also important to make sure we feel personally fulfilled as well. Like the saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup. We must first love and feel confident in ourselves before we can help others feel the same. If you feel unhappy with the appearance of your breasts because they sag and droop, you can lift your spirits with a breast lift in Lubbock. Many women struggle to accept the toll life can take on the youthful appearance of their breasts. Age, gravity, pregnancies, and fluctuations in weight can cause the breasts to take on a saggy or elongated shape. Whether a breast lift is a procedure you never thought you would want or something you have wanted to do for a long time, a breast lift can rejuvenate your bust and improve your confidence.

How Can a Breast Lift Help Me?

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, restores sagging breasts to give them a more youthful, perky shape. The surgery helps to raise the breasts by removing extra skin and tightening the skin around the surrounding tissue to support the new shape of the breast. The nipple and areola are moved to a more upward position. Unwanted stretch marks can also be eliminated during your procedure if they are part of the extra skin that is removed.

Patients undergoing a breast lift in Lubbock will not see noticeable changes in the size of their breasts, but the procedure can provide symmetry and more forward projection. If you want to change the size of your breasts, a breast augmentation or reduction can be done in combination with a lift to achieve your desired look. For women who want to add volume at the same time as their mastopexy, breast augmentation can help. Talk to your doctor about what you want in terms of size, because choosing an implant that is too big can work against the effects of your breast lift. When the right balance is achieved, patients enjoy beautiful results.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift in Lubbock?

Many women are unhappy with their breasts but do not know which procedure would help their specific problems. If your breasts sag but you are unsure whether you might be a good candidate for a breast lift, you can do a simple test at home. Place a pencil under the fold of your breast and see if the pencil stays in place when you let go of it. If the pencil stays put, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift in Lubbock. You should also ask yourself a few questions about how you feel about your breasts.

  • Do your breasts sag?
  • Do your nipples point downward?
  • Do you have tubular or pendulous breasts?
  • Do you have larger areolas?
  • Are you satisfied with your breast symmetry?

It is also important to think about your general health and lifestyle. Because your breasts are affected by life changes, you should consider whether it’s the right time in your life for a breast lift. It is best to plan this procedure after you are finished having children and nursing babies so that you do not risk jeopardizing the results of your surgery. Women planning for a breast lift in Lubbock should maintain a stable weight and be in good health. If you smoke or use nicotine, you will need to quit for several weeks leading up to and following your surgery.

Life After a Breast Lift in Lubbock

You can expect to experience some discomfort, swelling, and some draining initially after your breast lift. It’s important to follow your doctor’s post-surgery instructions carefully. Plan on taking about five to seven days off work as your breasts begin the healing process. You can expect to return to regular exercise after about four to six weeks of recovery. There will be some scarring but it will be hidden under clothing and swimwear and will continue to fade over time. Your new, perkier breasts will give you the freedom of going braless when you want to and boost your confidence overall.

Why Breast Augmentation in Lubbock is Better than Ever

Science and technology are constantly evolving at a rapid pace. Our expectations for cell phones, the internet, our cars, and even medicine are on the rise because of the amazing advancements that happen all the time. This is good news for plastic surgery patients, as progress in surgical techniques and technology are also bringing better and safer results. Women considering breast augmentation in Lubbock can benefit from these trends in several different ways. Whether your breasts have lost volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding, are asymmetrical, or are just smaller than you’d like them to be, you can choose from a variety of options to tailor your procedure to meet your individual goals.

Implant Options

Women’s breasts are all unique, as are our tastes and preferences. An implant that appeals to one woman may not be well-suited for the next. Saline, silicone gel, and the new IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implants each offer a different choice for women considering their implant options for breast augmentation in Lubbock.

  • Saline – Breast implants filled with a sterile saltwater solution called saline have been used for breast enhancement since 1964. They are approved by the FDA for women 18 and older. Saline implants have long been considered the “safe” choice for breast implants since saline is harmless to the body and can be absorbed in the event of implant leakage. The major drawback to these implants lies in their viscosity. Saline implants are similar to a water balloon in the way they feel. Many women dislike the resulting unnatural look of their surgical results, but are willing to compromise so they don’t have to worry about the concerns that come with silicone gel.
  • Silicone Gel – Silicone gel breast implants come in many shapes and sizes and are FDA-approved for women 22 and up. Patients undergoing breast augmentation in Lubbock often prefer them over saline implants because they look and feel more natural. The silicone gel inside the implant has a softer touch that resembles real breast tissue. While many women choose these implants, they do so with the risk of silent rupture. When a silicone gel implant breaks or leaks, there are no visible signs. The only way to know whether a silicone gel implant is fully intact is through routine MRI screenings. If silent rupture occurs, silicone gel can leak out into other areas of the body where it can be difficult to remove.
  • IDEAL IMPLANT Structured Breast Implants – The IDEAL IMPLANT is a new alternative to saline and silicone gel breast implants. It combines the best of both implant types by offering the soft, natural feel and look of silicone gel with the peace of mind of saline. The IDEAL IMPLANT is filled with saline and has a structure made of chambers and shells inside to give it the firm shape that women can’t get with regular saline implants. The structure prevents the implant from buckling, rippling, and wrinkling, which are common problems associated with saline implants.

The risk of rupture is lower with the IDEAL IMPLANT than with silicone gel implants, but if it were to happen, you would be able to tell right away. The outer chamber would deflate, and you could look in the mirror and know immediately that your implant was not intact. The issue would be purely aesthetic, however, as the saline that could escape is completely harmless.

Getting the Size Just Right

Women considering breast augmentation in Lubbock know that one of their most important decisions is about size. You might start out thinking you want a certain cup size, but that could differ greatly from what you want your actual breasts to look like. Breast volume does not necessarily equal cup size. Your doctor can help you decide which final size would look best on you.

  • 3D Imaging – This new technology is helpful for patients who want to virtually “try on” different breast implant types and sizes. The software uses photos from different angles of the patient’s body to create a computer generated model. This method allows you to see what you might look like post-surgery, but does not give you an accurate idea of what your new breasts might feel like.
  • Rice Bags – Many plastic surgeons recommend their breast augmentation patients try on bags of rice inside their bra to get a good idea of what bigger breasts might feel like. Buy a bra in a size you think you might like to wear after surgery and use bags of rice to fill out the extra room in the bra. Wear the rice bra around for a day or so to get a realistic feel for augmented breasts.
  • Before and After Photos – Plastic surgery websites have plenty of before and after images of breast augmentation patients. Browsing these photos can help you decide what size and shape you prefer for the outcome of your breast augmentation in Lubbock. You will get a more realistic expectation of your results if you look at women whose build is similar to yours; even with the same size implants, a woman with a slender frame and narrow chest will look very different than one who is more stocky with a wider chest.

Plastic Surgery with Dr. Jane Rowley

Dr. Rowley focuses on the individual needs of her patients. When meeting with Dr. Rowley, she takes the time to develop a customized treatment plan designed just for you. Since breast implants come in different shapes and sizes, one of the best ways to determine which type of implant is right for your body is to try out your options. Dr. Rowley explains:

“Most people who seek breast augmentation come in with an idea of what cup size they would like to be postoperatively. However, cup size is extremely variable and often depends on the manufacturer of the undergarment. I think it is very important to spend a long time talking to my patients about what size they think they want to be. We look at multiple photographs, go through sample implants together, and I have patients try them on. I find it is not uncommon for someone to come in and say they want to be a C-cup, but when we go over it together, they find they like a little larger appearance, or maybe smaller, once they’ve tried them on. I do not want to trivialize this operation, but from a technical surgical standpoint, it is a relatively simple operation to do. The most difficult and important aspect of this procedure is making sure the patient has clear expectations. A skilled surgeon can make your breasts larger but we cannot make your breasts look like someone else’s breasts. This is why I feel spending a long time discussing size together before the procedure is so important.”

The Choice is Yours

Dr. Rowley understands that receiving breast implants is a big decision. She is committed to helping women look their best and gain the confidence they deserve. The video below shares her philosophy toward plastic surgery.

A New Implant Option

Dr. Rowley remains up-to-date on the latest implant technology. Women are often familiar with silicone gel or saline breast implants, but their options don’t end there. A new, innovative type of implant is now available—the IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implant. The IDEAL IMPLANT combines the natural feel of silicone gel with the safety of saline. Its advanced internal structure sets it apart from all other breast implants. The IDEAL IMPLANT is made up of a series of shells nested together that hold two separate chambers filled with saline. This unique design:

  • Offers the peace of mind that comes from saline
  • Gives the realistic look and youthful shape expected with silicone gel
  • Reduces wrinkling and rippling often associated with saline
  • Supports the upper pole of the implant to prevent collapse when upright
  • Controls the movement of the saline to mitigate sloshing and eliminate the “water-hammer” effect

The IDEAL IMPLANT is empty before placement, so it can be rolled up and inserted through a smaller incision. Its filled after its placed and has an adjustable volume capacity, so plastic surgeons can cater to the exact needs and desires of their patients.

No Risk of “Silent Rupture”

No costly MRI scans are needed to detect rupture with the IDEAL IMPLANT. Women always know their implants are intact by simply looking the mirror. If a rupture does occur, the body safely absorbs the saline. But with silicone gel breast implants, sticky silicone gel can leak and get trapped in the surrounding tissues of a woman’s body, without her even knowing it is happening. This is called a “silent rupture,” because only an MRI can detect when it happens. The FDA recommends women with silicone gel implants receive an MRI every two-to-three years for the life of their implants.
