Growing in Popularity
In 2015, according to The American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), facelifts didn’t make the shortlist of the top five most popular cosmetic surgical procedures, but it did make this list of top five in 2016. ASPS reports a total of 131,106 facelifts in 2016. So why the popularity of this plastic surgery? Lubbock women see the benefits of a facelift, and here are some of the reasons behind the interest in this surgery:
- Cost— This reason is one of the easiest to understand. It’s cheaper than ever before to get a facelift, making this surgery an option for budgets that couldn’t accommodate it in year’s past.
- Living Longer— If you search the internet for “facelift”, you’ll find news stories about old cars, buildings, or interstate highways that are getting a facelift. We use the term facelift to communicate that something needs a new, updated look. It doesn’t necessarily have to mean a dramatic change in appearance, but could just be a return to your previous youth. As we live longer on this earth, we’re finding our youthful look slipping farther and farther away from us. Many people see the benefit of this plastic surgery, Lubbock women and men included, to get a new or updated look that matches how great they feel as they age.
- New Technology— Improvements in tools and techniques have improved recovery for facelift procedures, making it faster and easier. Mini-facelifts have also provided for a less invasive option that can lift wrinkles and sagging skin, but require even less recovery than a traditional facelift.
