Dr. Rowley has performed brachioplasty for two decades.
When expectations are clear, the procedure can achieve very positive results.
WHY DO PATIENTS SEEK BRACHIOPLASTY (ARM LIFT)?
Patients typically seek this procedure for excess skin in the upper arm in the area above the elbow, especially after a significant weight loss.
BRIEF SURGICAL FACTS
The procedure typically takes one hour with a general anesthetic in outpatient surgery. There are no drains and the sutures are absorbable. The arms are wrapped in compression wraps for up to two weeks. The patient usually can resume work in 5-7 days. Full complete resolution of swelling can take up to 6-8 weeks.
SURGICAL PROCEDURE
The surgery itself is fairly straightforward. The loose skin and fat on the upper arms is excised and closed with absorbable sutures along a scar at the back of the arm.
DR. JANE ROWLEY’S THOUGHTS ON BRACHIOPLASTY (ARM LIFT)
“Patients really need to have a significant amount of excess skin to be happy with the results after this operation. There is a fairly significant scar that can be noticeable in clothing, but on the right patient, the results can be dramatic.”
